Mika and the Witch’s Mountain development roadmap
Here are the next steps in the development of Mika and the Witch’s Mountain, from the current Early Access situation to the full release in all platforms.
Mika and the Witch’s Mountain arrived in Early Access on Steam (PC) and Nintendo Switch on August 21.
Since then, part of the Chibig team has dedicated, and continues to dedicate, its efforts to keep developing more content for the game, fixing some bugs and performance improvements.
In this post we want to show the roadmap with the following milestones until the full release of the game in digital and for all platforms, both new and old generation.
Why Early Access?
The feedback and support from the community that has been growing with each release is very valuable to us.
In parallel, the narrative and the artistic sides are the two great pillars of all Chibig games, so being able to receive the opinion and suggestions of our players in order to achieve better results was an opportunity we decided to take.
It’s the first time we’ve released a game by going through this Early Access process first, and while it raised concerns, it’s allowing us to get to a full release with a more stable and satisfying game. And part of that has been because of this ongoing conversation with our community.
Why these two platforms?
The experience of previous releases and the data obtained after the Kickstarter campaign of Mika and the Witch’s Mountain revealed that Steam (PC) and Nintendo Switch are the main platforms for a game of this kind: a cozy game about a delivery witch inspired by Kiki’s Delivery Service and with a very Wind Waker aesthetic.
Of course, the game will also come out on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series. In fact, it is in the final porting phase, which will be followed by the publishing and validation process on each platform.
If everything goes according to the roadmap planned, it will be available before the end of the year!
Will it be released in physical format?
Sadly, not at this time.
To date, all our releases have had a physical format adaptation, but we cannot confirm that this will be possible with Mika and the Witch’s Mountain for now.
The backers of the Kickstarter campaign are currently the only people who will receive (in the coming weeks) a physical edition for Nintendo Switch.
We hope that things will be favorable after launch and that the great support from players allows us to be able to add the open physical release (at least, for Nintendo Switch) in our roadmap.
This is what we can expect in the following months
Some milestones of the roadmap have already been met, but this is the full view we can expect imminently or in the coming months:
First Content Patch. Already available for Steam and Nintendo Switch, and including Churro Express racing minigame, Save the kittens minigame, Pet Companion and new cosmetics and achievements. Check more info here.
Mika and the Witch’s Mountain PlayStation and Xbox digital release before 2024 end. Both platforms will include, at least, the first Content Patch.
Second Content Patch. Planned for December 2024, and including: 3 Zelda-like Dungeons, Fishing minigame and New languages.
Early Access end/Full release. Planned for Q1 2025.
Note: the digital release for Japan is expected in Q1 2025 for these platforms: Nintendo Switch, PlayStation and Xbox.

Can’t wait to reach all the milestones!
